Connecting Rod Bearing Recall on Acura TLX and Acura MDX

Acura has recalled certain model years of the Acura TLX and Acura MDX due to a rod bearing defect that could lead to engine failure.

Certain 2015-2020 Acura TLX V6 models and 2016-2020 Acura MDX models have been recalled by Acura due to a critical problem with the rod bearing. A manufacturing defect in the engine crankshaft can cause the connecting rod bearing to wear prematurely and seize. This can result in severe engine damage, potentially leading to engine failure, stalling, or difficulty starting the vehicle.

Such engine failure while driving could significantly increase the risk of an accident. Acura is urging all owners of affected vehicles to schedule an inspection and repair at an authorized Acura dealership. The dealership will replace the engine if necessary, free of charge.

It is important to note that not all Acura TLX models and Acura MDX models will be affected by this recall. You can check the specific recall information for your Acura vehicle by accessing the Acura Recall Lookup tool and entering your VIN.
